Randy C Emery, Senior Vice President of Surety for The Buckner Company

One of the top insurance construction executives in Utah, Randy C. Emery, has joined The Buckner Company as Senior Vice President of Surety.

As head of Surety, Emery will direct all of the department’s employees and have primary responsibility for managing the company’s relationships with clients and surety underwriters.

Emery was vice president and senior account executive at Acordia Mountain West, a wholly owned subsidiary of Wells Fargo Bank, selling and servicing commercial insurance and contract surety services to the commercial construction industry. Prior to that, he founded Commercial West Insurance Agency of Salt Lake City in 1991, a local agency specializing in construction and contract surety business. It was sold to First Security in 1998, which was subsequently acquired by Wells Fargo.

For 15 years, Emery held executive positions in the banking industry with Citibank/Citicorp as vice president and manager of commercial banking, and with First Interstate Bank of Utah as vice president and manager of corporate banking. In both positions, Emery reported to the bank president, and at Citibank, to the western regional director.

He is a member of the National Association of General Contractors Supplier Board, the National Association of Surety Bond Producers and the UDOT Claims Re-Evaluation Board. He is past-president of the Utah Chapter of Professionals for Contractors Construction Council, president of the Board of Trustees for Judge Memorial High School and was appointed by former Gov. Michael Leavitt to serve as chairman of the State Council for Workforce Services and the State Workforce Investment Board.
