Mike Thomson Named Manager of the Employee Benefits Practice

February 2008 - The Buckner Company is proud to announce that Mike Thomson has been recently appointed as the Manager of the Employee Benefits Practice. His responsibilities will include managing the internal operations of Buckner’s fastest growing department. Thomson brings more than 15 years of insurance experience in human resources and employee benefits to his new role with the company. His strengths in sales development and management, operations management, and benefits program development promise to bring strength, efficiency, and effectiveness to the large and continually growing Buckner Benefits division of The Buckner Company.

Thomson most recently comes to The Buckner Company with 12 years of senior account management experience with IHC health plans and several years in the brokerage community. Thomson spent his time with IHC health plans negotiating health insurance benefits for Fortune 500 companies and other large businesses in the state of Utah.

Thomson’s long list of accomplishments include successfully administering a portfolio of clients with annual premiums exceeding $20 million, a 95% client retention rate and sales increase of 50% during his time as an account executive, and developing and motivating teams to achieve real results within the insurance business. His attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and his ability to follow-through to meet the corporate goals of the company make him a great addition and asset to The Buckner Company.
