Inaugural Carrier Relationship Day a Success
Salt Lake City, Utah, January 22, 2008 – The Buckner Company’s inaugural Carrier Relationship Day, held on January 22 nd, 2008 at the Little America Hotel in downtown Salt Lake City, was an informational and beneficial event for Buckner producers and account managers, as well as for the insurance carrier representatives who were in attendance.
Even the large snowstorm that hit the Salt Lake Valley the day before the event did not stop the 100 representatives from 34 insurance carriers from showing their support and dedication to The Buckner Company by coming in for the event from all over the country.
Representatives came into the ballroom in the morning to the upbeat and motivational sound of “Let’s Work Together” by Canned Heat, which tied in to the day’s theme of “Grow Together. Succeed Together.” Wendy Winberg welcomed them to the event and asked that they enjoy breakfast and get to know the agents and account managers they were seated with.
After breakfast, Terry Buckner, President and CEO of The Buckner Company, began the presentation by talking about the future of the insurance business, which has been in a soft market environment for 18 straight years. He then presented some interesting statistics regarding the growth and strength of The Buckner Company compared with other agencies. For example, the 2007 growth rates for The Buckner Company were 37%, compared to 7.2% growth for large independent agencies, 9% for bank owned agencies, and 6.4% for public brokers. Buckner went on to explain that the economic growth in Utah is strong compared with the rest of the nation, and that the company will be focusing on specific growth industries in 2008, including new niche market trucking and transportation, and construction, a well-known specialty of the company that makes up 43% of Buckner’s book of business. In conducting research for the meeting, The Buckner Company found that their top companies had praise for the company’s agents. “Smart and driven,” one mentioned, while another said the company was a “well-oiled machine”. Companies also said the agents were well-educated company-wide, and praised the agents for their quick responses and the trust they had for them.
