The Buckner Company acquires Flying J Insurance Services

Salt Lake City , Utah – The Buckner Company has entered into a definitive agreement to purchase Flying J Insurance Services effective January 1, 2010, continuing President Terry H. Buckner’s vision to grow Buckner’s insurance brokerage business by offering select niche market programs that add value and service options to more clients than ever before.

While other insurance brokerages are holding their breath, hoping for the recession to go away and soft pricing to end, The Buckner Company is preparing for the future of the insurance industry. “We think the current recession has provided great opportunities for firms such as ourselves to grow our business,” said Buckner. “While the trucking industry is down right now, we are confident in the long term growth of the economy, and we think that trucking will play an important role in that recovery. As a firm, we have managed ourselves through the recession with proper diversification and expansion when good opportunities present themselves. Expanded operations in our trucking and employee benefits practices have offset slumps in construction, which has, in the past, been an overwhelming percentage of our business.”

The Buckner Company has not only acquired insurance brokerages this year but has also decided to move into additional areas in the West. A new office in Idaho is currently in the works, and an agent is already working and developing business in the area. “Our recent expansion into Idaho Falls puts us into markets that have a pattern of stability and growth,” Buckner said.

According to Buckner, Flying J Insurance Service’s current customers will continue to enjoy the high quality of service they have received from Flying J Insurance, but with enhanced options for improved coverages and services from The Buckner Company’s partnerships with the best A-rated insurance companies.

The President of Flying J Insurance Services, Mark Farmer, sees this move as benefiting Flying J clients. “The Buckner Company has an outstanding reputation in the business,” he said. “I have no doubt our clients are in good hands and that this move will benefit them by giving them even more choices for their insurance programs.”

“Our current plans are to relocate Flying J Insurance’s personnel into our already growing Ogden business location,” said Buckner.

Flying J Insurance Services places approximately $25 million of insurance premiums annually, and has been providing insurance to the trucking industry since 1997.

Founded in Ogden in 1936, The Buckner Company has been serving the insurance needs of Utah and the surrounding states with honesty, integrity, and superior service for more than 70 years. Today, as one of the most prominent insurance brokerages in the West, The Buckner Company stands out from their competition in their expertise and knowledge of the construction and commercial businesses they service. In addition to providing their expertise in these fields, The Buckner Company also offers specialty niche market services, personal insurance, employee benefits, and surety bonding.
